Autism- and ADHD-friendly editing services

What services do you offer?

  • Proofreading
  • Copy editing
  • Line editing
  • Sensitivity reading (LGBTQ+, neurodiversity, body diversity)
  • Beta reading (free of charge, for short works only)

Here’s a demonstration of what’s included in different service tiers.

What makes your editing process autism- and ADHD-friendly?

  • Being AuDHD (autistic and ADHD) myself, I know first-hand that being a neurodivergent creative in a world made for neurotypical people can be a very stressful experience.
  • As an autistic or ADHDer, you may prefer certain communication styles and formats, struggle with RSD (rejection sensitive dysphoria), need extra help staying on track with big projects, and more.
  • However, asking for accommodations from your editor can be daunting. Despite the growing awareness of autism and ADHD, many people don’t know how to accommodate for different neurotypes in their work.
  • This is where I come in. If you and I agree to work on your manuscript together, one of the first things we will do is discuss how we can work best. This includes things like:
    • preferred communication style (do you want unvarnished opinions, compliment sandwiches, something in-between?)
    • communication format (text / voice / video)
    • project shape (do you want to work chapter by chapter? we can do that!)
    • frequency of contact (do you need help staying on track with your draft? do you need some nudges? we can do that too!)
    • and much more!

I’m not autistic / ADHD or otherwise neurodivergent — can I still make use of your services?

Absolutely! I welcome clients of all neurotypes! In fact, I believe that most people, whatever their neurotype or disability status, can benefit from an adaptive collaboration style. A more inclusive world is better for everyone living in it.

What are your rates?

I operate a sliding scale of rates. At this time, I’m willing to charge below market in order to build long-term relationships with authors and support marginalized voices. I’m also open to creative partnerships and trade in kind (i.e. providing my services in exchange for services you offer). Get in touch via the form below, or hit me up on transnoctem @ gmail.com, and we can discuss pricing that works for you.
